We are seeking a skilled and experienced Baker to prepare a variety of breads, pastries, and other baked goods to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of professional baking experience with both bread and pastry, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. As a key member of our team, the Baker will be responsible for mixing, baking, and finishing products, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and ensuring every item meets our standards for freshness, quality, taste, and presentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Primary responsibilities include:

General

  • Prepare and bake breads, pastries, cookies, cakes, and other baked goods according to recipes and quality standards
  • Measure, mix, and prepare doughs and batters
  • Monitor baking processes and adjust temperatures, ingredients, and methods as needed
  • Decorate and finish baked goods for display and sale
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, baking equipment, and prep areas
  • Manage ingredient inventory; notify management when supplies are low
  • Always follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Develop and maintain recipes, portion specifications, and standard preparation procedures for all dishes. 
  • Determination of purchasing specifications and budgetary allotments for all menu items.     
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and compliance with all company policies, service procedures, and standards - including Health Department regulations; always maintain excellent kitchen hygiene conditions. 
  • Have a working knowledge of food cost management and inventory control. 
  • Knowledgeable in all from-scratch breads and pastries.
  • Must be a hands-on working baker.
  • Passion for culinary excellence with incredible skill to create exciting and accessible new dishes, appropriate for the venue’s concept.  
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hours, as needed. 
  • Maintains openness and willingness to learn new techniques and improve abilities.  
  • Think quickly, multitask, and adapt to changing situations while maintaining the highest quality of product and other established standards.  
  • Skilled in direct interaction with guests. 
  • Able to build an effective relationship based on respect, trust, and integrity with clients
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs during a shift if needed.
  • All team members are required to assist in other areas when help is needed.

Financial

  • Must have knowledge of food cost controls.
  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food and supply costs.

Food Safety and Planning

  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen area. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company procedures, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
  • Uphold food quality standards, portions, baking procedures and presentation and bring any inconsistencies to the attention of Manager on Duty.
  • Maintain professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
  • Must maintain portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste.
  • SERV Safe certification is preferred.
  • Will uphold all SERV Safe guidelines.

Guest Service

  • Must have good communication skills interacting with guests and team members.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Ensure that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, guests and company assets.
  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Completes accident reports promptly in the event that a guest or employee is injured.
  • Maintain planning while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness.

Community Involvement

  • Provide strong presence in local community and high level of community involvement by restaurant and personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of baking experience with a focus on bread and pastries is required.
  • Professional or culinary school background is preferred. A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative.
  • Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, and company procedures.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must agree to background and credit check.

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Self-discipline, initiative, and outgoing.
  • Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance.
  • Ability to self-motivate to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards.
  • Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to restaurant problems.
  • Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff and guests.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Perform all functions at the restaurant level.
  • Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 50 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.
  • Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, cakes, and other baked goods according to established recipes.
  • Decorate cakes and pastries with creativity and precision to meet customer specifications.
  • Package finished products efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
  • Assist in food preparation tasks, including chopping, mixing, and cooking as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and fulfilling special requests.
  • Ensure proper food handling techniques are followed at all times to guarantee safety and quality.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.

Experience

  • Previous experience in the food industry is preferred, particularly in baking or pastry roles.
  • Strong culinary skills with knowledge of food preparation techniques.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and practices is essential.
  • Experience in catering or restaurant environments is a plus.
  • Proficiency in cake decorating, knife skills, and packaging processes will be highly regarded.
